Connect Claude or ChatGPT to MentorU
Setup instructions for workspace admins.
Last updated: October 16, 2026
What it does
When you connect an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT, it can read information from your MentorU workspace when you ask it a question. It can look up:
- A summary of your business: workspace details, offers, programs, sales, growth, customers and calendar.
- Your membership packages, with prices and what each one includes.
- Your products and offers, and whether each one is ready.
- Your public site profile, brand voice and setup progress.
- Sales and growth results for the recent reporting period.
- A summary of the people in your workspace: counts and stages, without contact details.
- A summary of your lead inbox: counts and states, without contact details.
- One day's agenda: published live sessions and one-on-one bookings, including attendee names.
- Your course and lesson titles with their publish state, and your private mentorship programs.
- A list of people and lead conversations with names, stage, status and recent activity. Contact details are never included, and people you have hidden from AI or archived are left out.
The connection is read only. The assistant cannot send messages, publish content, take payments, delete anything or change anything in MentorU.
Who can connect
- You must be an admin of an active MentorU workspace.
- Each connection is for one workspace. If you manage more than one, you choose which workspace when you connect.
- Team members without admin access cannot connect an assistant.
Connect Claude
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose to add a custom connector.
- Give it a name you will recognize, such as MentorU.
- Enter this connector URL:
https://mentoru.app/api/mcp - Choose Connect. Claude opens the MentorU consent screen described below.
Connect ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Settings and find the apps and connectors settings. Depending on your plan, you may need to turn on developer mode before you can add a custom connector.
- Add a custom connector and give it a name you will recognize, such as MentorU.
- Enter this connector URL:
https://mentoru.app/api/mcp - Save and connect. ChatGPT opens the MentorU consent screen described below.
Menu names in AI apps change from time to time. For any other AI app that supports custom connectors, open its connector settings, add a custom connector, and use the same URL.
The MentorU consent screen
- If you are not signed in to MentorU, sign in first. You return to the consent screen afterward.
- Check the app name and the address it sends you back to. Claude and ChatGPT addresses show a Verified badge. If MentorU does not recognize the app, it shows a warning; only continue if you set that app up yourself.
- Choose the workspace the assistant may read.
- Choose Allow access to connect, or Deny to cancel. Nothing is connected if you deny.
Pause or disconnect
Open Admin, then Connections, and find the Connected AI assistants card.
- Turn on Pause all AI assistants to stop every connected assistant from reading your workspace. Turn it off to let them read again.
- Choose Revoke next to a connection, then confirm, to disconnect that assistant for good. To use it again, connect it again from your AI app.
A paused or revoked assistant is refused on its next request.
What data is shared
MentorU shares only what the read tools above return, and only when your assistant asks for it. That information goes to the AI provider you chose, such as Anthropic for Claude or OpenAI for ChatGPT. The provider's own terms and privacy policy govern how it handles that information. The Privacy Policy describes what MentorU stores about each connection.
Limits
- Each connection has a request rate limit. If your assistant makes too many requests in a short time, MentorU asks it to wait briefly.
- Access expires after a short time and your AI app renews it automatically. If renewal stops working, connect again from your AI app.
- Each MentorU account can have up to 20 connected assistants at a time.
Privacy and support
Review the Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and support page. For continued problems, contact support@mentoru.app and include the workspace name and time of the problem. Never send passwords or tokens.
