MentorU Zoom Integration Guide
Self-service instructions for workspace owners.
Last updated: September 11, 2026
Before you begin
- Zoom availability is configured separately for each MentorU workspace. If Zoom is unavailable, no new authorization can begin for that workspace.
- You must be the recorded owner of an active MentorU workspace.
- You must control the Zoom account you authorize.
- Your workspace must have Zoom available before you can connect an account.
- MentorU support can inspect connection status but cannot authorize a Zoom account for you.
Add the app
These steps work when Zoom is enabled for your MentorU workspace. Check Connections for current availability before starting authorization.
- Sign in to MentorU and open Workspace → Connections → Zoom.
- Select Connect when Not connected, Reconnect when attention is needed, or Change Zoom account when already Connected, then confirm the same-origin authorization action.
- Sign in to your own Zoom account, review the requested access, and choose Allow.
- Zoom returns you to MentorU, which securely confirms the single Zoom identity returned for your authorization.
- Verify that the connection shows Connected. No separate host-selection screen is required.
If you are not signed in, start from the Zoom integration page and sign in or create a MentorU account first.
Use the connection
A connection lets MentorU recognize the authorized Zoom identity, check the connection, and create, read, update, or delete meetings requested from that mentor's workspace. Scheduling actions remain tenant-scoped and require the workspace's separately enabled meeting controls.
Use Test read access to confirm the authorized identity without creating a meeting. Use Refresh connection when prompted. Reconnect if Zoom access was removed, required access changed, or token refresh can no longer be completed.
Requested Zoom access
MentorU requests only the Zoom permissions used by the connection and embedded meeting experience:
user:read:useridentifies the Zoom user who approved the connection.meeting:write:meeting, meeting:read:meeting, meeting:update:meeting, andmeeting:delete:meetingsupport mentor-requested meeting scheduling and changes.- A short-lived Zoom Access Key from the authorized user token endpoint starts the exact embedded host meeting; Zoom Marketplace also requires
user:read:zakfor the enabled Meeting SDK feature. user:read:tokensupplies a short-lived On Behalf Of token when an authorized member joins an external mentor's meeting inside MentorU.
Embedded meetings
When a workspace uses MentorU's embedded meeting experience, the authorized mentor can start the meeting inside MentorU and members can join inside MentorU. MentorU obtains an exact-meeting SDK signature and the short-lived ZAK or OBF value required by Zoom. These values are delivered only to the authenticated browser for that meeting, are not stored by MentorU, and are never used as general OAuth credentials. An explicit Open in Zoom fallback remains available if the embedded client cannot initialize.
Troubleshooting
- If authorization is canceled during first connection or expires, return to Connections and start Connect again.
- An already-authorized Zoom account may return to MentorU without showing consent. Verify the intended identity shows Connected and use Test read access to confirm it.
- If a replacement authorization is canceled, the existing connection remains unchanged. Choose Change Zoom account again to retry.
- If MentorU cannot confirm the authorized Zoom identity, verify the Zoom account and reconnect with the intended account.
- If the page says Zoom is not yet available, no new authorization can begin for that workspace.
- If an existing connection needs attention, reconnecting does not replace it unless authorization and identity confirmation both succeed.
- For continued problems, contact support and include the workspace name and timestamp—never credentials or tokens.
Remove the app
You can remove access in either place:
- In MentorU, open Workspace → Connections → Zoom, choose Disconnect, and confirm.
- Or open My library in the Zoom App Marketplace, find MentorU, open its actions menu, choose Remove, and confirm Remove.
Removal immediately disables Zoom scheduling effects for the connection. MentorU deletes OAuth credentials, staged host choices, and Zoom-derived personal fields after verified removal, while retaining secret-free security and lifecycle audit evidence for the periods described in the Privacy Policy and Security and Data Protection Policy. You can reconnect later by repeating the Add the app steps.
Privacy and support
Review the Privacy Policy, Security and Data Protection Policy, Terms of Use, and support page. Privacy requests, including access or deletion requests, may be sent to support@mentoru.app and may require identity verification.
Zoom reviewers can follow the synthetic reviewer test plan. Reviewer credentials are provided only through Zoom's protected submission field and are never published on this page.
